Real world compassion

My wife made an off-hand remark about the fund-raising pop collaboration "We Are The World" (My parents had owned the VHS tape; I recall it being the first time I realized that Kenny Rogers and Kenny Loggins were different people).

It made me think about the need for the church to truly focus on social issues that were close to our Lord's heart. Of course, such issues should be close to our hearts as well.

I am talking about the need to focus on the less fortunate in our respective cities.
