Annie gets it. Do you?

One thing you can count in life is that things will always get a bit tough now and then. I was talking to a friend via Twitter, and this came to mind.

Life can become a drunk prize fighter... swinging like crazy, never conceding defeat and determined to keep you down... and then pounding on you anyway. And unfortunately, in the game of living, the timeouts can be few and far between.

Everybody gets down. As a soccer coach and youth worker, I always know to keep the highs within perspective, because the pendulum does swing at times, and the very people who sang your praises the day before can be calling for your head today. It may sound pessimistic, but people will be human, and I try to understand that. It does help remove any temptations to not be me.

It's that aspect of human frailty that makes what church staff do so critical. Knowing that the cards are sometimes stacked against us makes the inevitable wins all the more sweeter. And, as my mother-in-law says when confronted by injustice, look what they did to Jesus...

Yep, ministry does seem thankless at times.

There is nothing that uplifts more than faith. The inevitability of light at the end of the tunnel is such a great promise. So, no matter what happens, keep ya head up, and remember that even Orphan Annie figured it out.

Put your bottom dollar up. Tomorrow, there will be sun!
